Red Dead Online: Combat tips

Image default

New Delhi: Whether you see yourself as a Shotgun-wielding fiend or a measured marksman, Red Dead Online encourages everyone to hone their combat skills according to their preferred playstyle. Below are some quick combat tips for outlaws and gunslingers of all types, including some pointers on Active and Passive Ability Cards:

GENERAL COMBAT

Stick to Your Guns: The more you use a particular weapon, the more familiar your character will become with it. Improved reload speed, along with decreased reticule settle time and recoil shake are the main benefits associated with using the same weapon in combat.

Cleaning Up: Use Gun Oil to maintain your weapons – a poorly-maintained weapon will suffer from decreased fire rate and damage, as well as longer reload time – while occasional maintenance will keep your weapons at peak performance.

Take a Breath: When aiming at a mid- or long-range target, pay attention to the size of the circle around your reticule. With certain weapons, aiming for an extra few moments will tighten your aim for a more accurate shot.

Shoot from the Hip: Alternatively, rapidly hip-firing in close-combat situations, instead of taking the time to aim with L2/LT, can help you take down multiple enemies quickly.

ABILITY CARDS

Starting Out: The first Ability Card slot you’ll unlock in Red Dead Online allows you to choose how you want to use Dead Eye. Paint targets, deal extra damage or recuperate health while using Dead Eye depending on the card you choose.

Passive Abilities: As you rank up, you’ll gain access to a total of three Passive Ability Card Slots in addition to your Dead Eye slot. Choose from numerous Combat, Recovery and Defense abilities to suit your playstyle.

Leveling up: The more you use an Ability Card, the more progress you’ll make towards unlocking the next tier. Press the Upgrade button in the Ability Card Menu to preview the benefits of leveling up the card.

Loadout: Customize your loadout according to the activity you’re embarking on – Combat Abilities may work best for shootouts, whereas Defense Abilities may prove more useful during escort missions.
