Here’s what’s happening in WhatsApp this week: All the updates

WhatsApp has been working on improving existing functions and adding new features to its platform. In the past couple of weeks, there have been reports that include features such as wallpapers and multi-device support. We now have more details about these features.

Expiring Media

WhatsApp has been working on a new feature which will allow users to share media files that can disappear without leaving any trace. Users will be able to share expiring media files by tapping on the clock icon which will appear right next to the image icon.

There are other reports which suggest that the expiring media feature will be called View Once. The media file shared using this feature will disappear as soon as the recipient leaves the chatbox. The deleted media file will be replaced by a message that reads “View once photo expired”.

New call button

As per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature in the beta version of its WhatsApp Business for Android app. This feature will collate the voice call and video call buttons into one call button.

Hence, when users click on it, they will see a popup button that will enable them to pick between making a video call and a voice call. Also, it will make room for the catalogue shortcut in the Business app that will be placed right next to the call button.

WhatsApp sibling Instagram has also offers its users the ability to send a disappearing photo or video as a direct message on its platform. Now, WhatsApp is planning to take the experience to a mass level — as its user base is over 20 crore users all across the world.

Now, this was initially found to be in the works through the WhatsApp beta. However, the latest beta version says that it would be implemented for end users.
