Netflix is testing a new offer in India where users will be able to get their first month subscription at just Rs 5. So what this essentially means is that Netflix users who are subscribing to the streaming service can get the first month for Rs 5.
Now, there is a catch. This offer is not available for all users. Only those who are first-time subscribers of Netflix for the first time will be able to avail this Rs 5 offer. Even among the new users only select lucky ones will get this offer. Netflix keeps testing out new subscription plans and this one could well be one of their new approaches to penetrate deeper into the Indian market.
“This is a new marketing promotion designed to help more people discover Netflix. Depending on its success, we may roll it out more widely,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement to Hindustan Times.
It should be mentioned here that this new Rs 5 Netflix offer will be applicable irrespective of the subscription plan. Users can opt for any of the Netflix plans – Rs 199 mobile plan, Rs 499 plan, Rs 649 standard plan and Rs 799 premium plan.
All of these plans can be availed from the first month and can be subscribed at Rs 5. Also, the features will be available according to the subscription plan chosen by the user.
After Netflix revoked its one month free trial last December, this new offer should entirely be a surprise as this is all part of a new plan. The company had also launched its mobile only plan to lure more users on its platform.
