Paytm joins hands with Zomato, launches food ordering service in India

Hungry as usual? No cash? Looks like Paytm and Zomato have a solution to satiate your workplace and midnight munchies!

Yes, you read that right. Till now, you were using Paytm to pay your bills, for your mobile recharges, for booking and Uber and what not. And now, you can also order food on the app.

After cab service provider Ola partnered with Food delivery app Food Panda last year, digital payment giant Paytm has joined hands with Zomato, one of the leading food delivery services. Now, Paytm users will be able to order food through the app.

The digital payments company has rolled out the service for Android users in Delhi- NCR region initially. However, the company will soon spread the service across the country for both Android and iOS users.

Just a few weeks ago, Paytm had waived off all additional charges on booking train tickets through its app. The partnership between Paytm and Zomato comes on close heels with the latter expanding its service to 30 more Indian cities.

Paytm plans on covering more than 80,000 restaurants in over 100 cities by the end of January itself. The new development is also aimed at raising food ordering penetration in India by a large margin.

The company has also claimed that one of the largest payment categories on its app is the food and beverage segment.
A majority of Paytm customers hail from tier-2 and tier-3 cities and its partnership with Zomato is also going to drive the growth of online food ordering further for it.

According to Zomato, the move will increase their user base to a large extent and add to the overall experience of ordering food from its app.

Paytm is also giving an introductory offer to get its customers to use its app for ordering food. Using the promo code “Hungry”, one can also available up to Rs.100 worth of cashback on Paytm by ordering food through its app.

The association of Paytm and Zomato has come as tough competition for other prominent players in the Food delivery sector including Swiggy and Uber eats.

No matter how much the competition between these apps rises, in the end, it’s the customer who is the winner!
