WhatsApp testing a new ‘Vacation Mode’ feature: Here’s what it does

WhatsApp testing a new Vacation Mode feature

WhatsApp keeps working on a number of new and interactive features to stay relevant and now, it is actively working on making the app a one-stop solution for people. It has already released WhatsApp Payments, disappearing messages as well as storage management which is a tool for everyone. And, as per reports, the Facebook-owned app is working on a new ‘Vacation mode’ for users.

As per Wabetainfo, the company has said that it had earlier started developing the feature under the name “Ignore Archived Chats”, but then it abandoned the development. In the WhatsApp beta for Android update, the app was finally starting to implement the feature again and this includes several improvements.

So, what exactly is a vacation mode?

As of now, WhatsApp unarchives archived chats whenever a new message arrives but when the vacation mode is on, the chats will not be automatically unarchived anymore. The “Archived Chats” option will reportedly be moved at the top of your chat list.

This feature is currently under development right now and hence, we do not know when will this feature be released for everyone.

Wabetainfo spotted the vacation mode a couple of months ago. It went on to say, “WhatsApp has decided to implement the Vacation Mode again, under a new form! there will be a new dedicated section for the Vacation Mode, that allows choosing different parameters. When the new feature will be enabled, Archived chats will be moved to the top of your chats list.”

Now, once it is out of the beta stage, it should be ready to arrive soon for both Android and iOS users.
