WhatsApp is reportedly working on a number of new features and as per a new report, the Facebook-owned messaging app will add colors to the Dark Theme and will also enable calling on WhatsApp web.
There were several reports earlier which said that the company will soon release the multi-device support for beta users and that it has been testing few features which include it is also testing a few features including a Search by date message, redesigned storage, etc.
According to WAbetainfo, WhatsApp will add new colors to the Dark theme and this would then allow users to make video and voice calls through WhatsApp web. There have earlier reports which said that WhatsApp is working on implementing Dark Theme for their web and desktop users. The messaging app will add different apps to the dark theme.
“Today, thanks to the 2.2025.5 update, we have discovered that WhatsApp is working on a different Dark Theme using alternative dark colors (they are doing the same for the dark iOS bubbles),” the WAbetainfo report read.
Not only this, WAbetainfo has also added that WhatsApp is working on implementing Voice and Video calls in the WhatsApp Web. Currently, this feature is available on the Android and iOS apps. The company has also made plans which will allow users to make group calls from the WhatsApp web as well.
This new update will go a long way to counter competition from the video-conferencing apps Zoom and Google Meet.
We have already reported that WhatsApp is planning to integrate Messenger Rooms into the app. The Messenger Rooms by Facebook allows up to 50 people to join a video call at one time and as per the screenshots by WAbetainfo, a user does not need to Facebook account to join a call on Rooms.
