As 2021 approaches, messaging platform WhatsApp will stop working on a number of older iPhones as well as Android smartphones. While few may not have WhatsApp altogether, there will be others that will be allowed to only use few features on the platform which is owned by Facebook.
There are older smartphones that have not yet upgraded to iOS 9 or above or Android 4.0.3 or above and these will not be able to run WhatsApp. It is advised by the makers of the app that the users should proceed to update their devices to these versions of their operating system if they want to continue using this app. For ones, who will not be able to update the app, well, they will need to buy a new smartphone or look for alternatives to WhatsApp.
Users who are still holding on to the iPhone 4 or lower model will definitely not have access to WhatsApp. Also, if you are using a Samsung Galaxy S2, you will not be able to use WhatsApp.
Now, it is easy to upgrade iPhone devices as they can go into ‘Settings’ that will followed by ‘General’ and then tap on ‘Software Update’. This will help them understand the version which version of the OS they are currently using and whether or not, they will be to upgrade it. On the other hand, Android users will find it in the ‘About Phone’ section in the ‘Settings’ of their smartphone.
The other popular phones include HTC Sensation, Samsung Google Nexus S, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, LG Optimus 2X, Samsung Galaxy S I9000, HTC Desire S among others.
