Quibi

Streaming services are now the future and plenty more platforms will mushroom all over the place in the days to come. One of the bigger players which has announced its arrival – Quibi will be the latest player but then it will not be the same as the others. There is a different take on streaming as it is aimed at users who prefer short form videos and it will feature shows with episodes spanning less than ten minutes.

Quibi has announced that it will be launched in April but it is already available for Android and iOS. Interested users can also start the process of pre-registering for Quibi. The company has already listed some shows that will arrive as soon as it has launched. On launch there will be shows which include Survive featuring Sophie Turner, Most Dangerous Game with Liam Hemsworth and Nightgowns with Sasha Velour.

This platform will also bring back the old Nickelodeon show Legends of the Hidden Temple and Punk’d.

Explaining the difference:

Each episode will only last between 8 and 10 minutes and few might even a shorter run time. This will be mobile-first service and can be availed also in the offline mode for users to download and then watch the show. Another important feature is that users will be able to watch the shows in landscape mode and portrait as well.

As per reports, Quibi will go live on April 6 in the United States. Pre-registrations for Quibi are already underway and users can get it at $4.99 (Rs 400 appx) per month with ads.

There is another subscription which will come minus the ads and it will be available for pay $7.99 (Rs 600 approx) per month. There’s no word as yet on whether Quibi plans to expand to other markets.
