Binatone’s MaskFone combines an N95 mask with a Bluetooth headset

Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, technology has made rapid advancements this year. Now, companies have managed to build their tech around face coverings and as such, Binatone’s latest offering is no exception.

Binatone has unveiled their MaskFone at CES 2021 – this is essentially a washable fabric mask with a standard N95 filter and it can also double up as a wireless headset. The company is looking to aim at people who have to take calls on the go and at the same time, be protected using the protective covering.

The MaskFone uses the ear loops of the mask in order to accommodate the earpiece and the wiring is self-contained. The company explains that this mask is IPX5 certified and hence, you can definitely wear it in a bit of rain as well as for light workouts. Now, you have to bear in mind that experts advise against exercising with regular masks on. When you want to wash this mask, all you have to do is to disconnect the earbuds and the filter to clean the mask fabric so it isn’t very grimy after repeated use.

It has around 12 hours of battery life, the MaskFone should last long enough for anyone stepping out for work or a trip to the grocery store. As per Binatone’s website, the headset has background noise isolation and it will always help you when you are outdoors.

It is a great addition if you do not have to take out your phone and even when you touch your mask or fask. The device will retail at $50 and comes in two sizes – S/M and M/L. There is also support for voice assistants that include Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant.
