Huawei’s P50 series to launch with liquid lens technology: Report

Huawei is all set for its next big launch as it is ready with its P50 series. This phone is expected to be launched in the first quarter of next year. It will come with the latest Kirin 9000 processor. As per a new report, this P50 series will come with the liquid lens technology which will be able to deliver a superior camera experience.

As per MyDrivers (via Gadgets360), liquid lens technology does have a number of advantages when pitted against the conventional camera setups. This technology will be able to deliver a fast-focusing speed and is well-equipped to achieve millisecond-level focus much like the human eye.

It needs to be mentioned here that the concept of liquid lenses has been around for quite some time. According to Edmundoptics the technology has been explained as: “Liquid lenses are small, mechanically or electrically controlled cells containing optical-grade liquid. When a current or voltage is applied to a liquid lens cell, the shape of the cell changes. This change occurs within milliseconds and causes the optical power, and therefore focal length and working distance, to shift.”

“Huawei’s technical solution can be used to drive the motor of the liquid lens to meet performance requirements such as autofocus and optical image stabilization, while improving the reliability of the motor under abnormal working conditions such as impacts and drops,” the report adds.

As things start now, no one is quite certain of the camera specifications of the Huawei P50. The reports suggest that the liquid lens technology will be used for the telephoto camera – and this camera will also be paired with Sony’s IMX782 sensor which has not yet been made official.

Huawei P50 series is slated to follow the Mate 40 series, which was launched last month. The series will come with 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+ as well as Porsche Design edition. The top-end model, Mate 40 Pro+, will come with dual telephoto camera system with 20x hybrid zoom as well as 100x digital zoom.
