Homegrown brand Micromax has announced that will be making a comeback with a new sub-brand ‘In’. The development has been announced soon after the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) approvals were sanctioned by the central government, and in the process, it has moved few steps closer to ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
“We are delighted to make a comeback in the India market with our sub-brand ‘In’. When you have the word India or ‘In’ on you, it gives you a sense of responsibility. The weight of a billion hopes. But bigger than anything is the pride it gives. Our endeavour is to bring India on the global smartphone map again with ‘In’ mobiles,” Rahul Sharma, Co-founder, Micromax, said in a statement.
As per the handset maker, this new avatar was inspired by the fun, bold and aspirational Indian millennials – they are looking for performance-oriented products for their digital journey and they are set to drive India’s success story. This brand colour and the overall visual identity are inspired by India’s blue colours – this blue was recognised by India – as per the company.
Now, with this brand promise, one expects to bring uncompromised performance and a secure user experience. Micromax plans to holistically build and grow the smartphone ecosystem and they aim that the Indian consumers can truly benefit.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) has already approved several non-Chinese companies and this includes Bhagwati (Micromax) to manufacture mobile phones in the country under the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
As things stand now, the handset maker has a retail presence in the form of more than 10,000 outlets and over 1,000 service centres.
These ‘IN-series’ devices are expected to run on stock Android out of the box. Apart from these, as per a tipster, information has been leaked and this has given us information about the third Micromax phone with a Helio P35 chipset along with 4GB of RAM.
As per the rumours this phone is speculated to be named as ‘Micromax In A1’ and run on Android 10.
