HMD Global, parent company of Nokia brand, is planning to launch the all-new Nokia 8.2 5G. There were some rumours claiming that it may come in two variants– a 4G LTE and a 5G variant. But a fresh report on Nokia Power User website claims that the new smartphone will be launched in 5G variant only and it will be launched at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 tech trade show in February next year.
It is said to be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 735 chipset by Qualcomm. Various reports are claiming that it won’t be a flagship model but an upper mid-range phone. Nokia dropped the strategy of launching two variants of Nokia 8.2 as it did with Nokia 6.2 which was launched with only one variant, not like Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus that came in two variants. Some rumours also claim that Nokia 8.2 5G may be launched with a different moniker.
Some Rumoured Specifications
According to industry talks, the new smartphone will be the first notch-less display and a pop-up selfie camera from HMD Global, the alleged pop-up selfie camera may feature a 32 Megapixel sensor. Nokia 8.2 5G is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s SnapDragon 735, expected to come equipped with a 5G modem that is yet to be launched. Snapdragon 735 is the successor of the 8nm Snapdragon 730 which second best processor in the market right now after the flagship Snapdragon 8XX SoC lineup.
The top model of Nokia 8.2 5G is said to be the very first mobile from the Finnish company to feature 8 GB RAM, which will be supported by 256GB of storage space. It is said to come in two more variants 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. Nokia 8.2 5G will come with a quad-camera system with a primary sensor of 64 Megapixels.
The Nokia 8.2 5G is believed to be priced around $500 in the U.S.
