Nokia announces Streaming Box 8000: Check price, specifications

Nokia has been licensing its brand to several companies and the recent among these is StreamView GmbH. As per GizChina, this Austrian company has now become an official licensee of the Nokia brand and they will be selling smart TVs, set top boxes as well as DAB+ radios across Africa, Middle East and Europe.

Now, one of the first products from the company will be the Nokia Streaming 8000 set top box that will be manufactured by SEI Robotics and will be on sale before Christmas this year.

Nokia Streaming 8000 has been priced at 100 euro ( ₹8,805 approx) and the specifications are higher when compared to other devices in the market. The set top box uses a quad-core Amlogic S905X3 chipset, that comes with 4 ARM Cortex-A55 cores and ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. Now, the RAM size is not yet known, but reports suggest it will be at least 2GB.

The Nokia Streaming 8000 will be launched with dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 support. It will also have multiple interfaces and these include USB 3.0 Type-A, USB Type-C, Ethernet, HDMI, optical audio, AV and DC power input, as per reports.

Also, it will extend support to 4K streaming and it should also support HDR10 as the device’s chipset supports this feature. There is no mention of Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos support.

Apart from all these, the Nokia Streaming 8000 runs Android TV 10 OS and will come pre-installed with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. There are other streaming platforms that include Disney+Hotstar etc which can be downloaded from the Play Store and the set top box also comes with built-in Chromecast as well as Google Assistant remote control.

The device is going to go on sale across markets just before Christmas.
