Sony introduces its next-gen PS5 VR controllers

Each VR controller comes with an adaptive trigger button that adds tension when pressed.

On Thursday, Sony unveiled a brand new accessory for its PlayStation 5 gaming console. The company said that this next-generation PS5 VR controllers are built using the same adaptive trigger technology that is available in the company’s DualSense wireless controller.

This newly-launched PS5 VR come with an orb-shaped design and as per the company, it will offer a higher degree of freedom to the players. Each VR controller comes with an adaptive trigger button that adds tension when pressed. Now, we expect this experience to be similar to the one which is available on the company’s DualSense controller.

Apart from this, the newly-introduced VR controllers will come with haptic feedback, which Sony says has been optimised for its form factor. “When you’re traversing through rocky desert or trading blows in melee combat, you’ll feel the difference, magnifying the extraordinary visual and audio experience that’s so central to VR,” Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President, Platform Planning and Management at PlayStation said in a blog post.

Also, it needs to be mentioned here that these controllers will come with a finger touch detection feature that can detect users’ fingers without having any need to press the areas and where they place their thumbs, index, or middle fingers. This also enabled them to make more natural gestures with their hands during gameplay. All these controllers will also have analogue sticks with buttons that can be used to pick up in-game objects among other things.

Now, it needs to be mentioned here that these VR controllers will not be available for sale anytime soon. However, Nishino has said that they will be rolled out and that they ‘will be in the hands of the development community soon.’
