If you have been using Facebook from a really long time, chances are that you might have played games such as FarmVille on the platform. After the game ran for a good 11 years, Zynga has announced that they will be taking this game down on December 31 this year.
The news comes owing to Adobe’s decision to stop distributing and updating Flash Player for all web browsers. Now, FarmVille requires the Flash Player plugin and hence, it will not be able to be played after the December 31 deadline.
“We’re aware that many of you have been with us since the very beginning, helping to build an incredible global community of players over the years who’ve enjoyed this game just as much as we have. For that we say thank you,” Zynga said in its announcement.
FarmVille first made an appearance back in 2009 just a years after Facebook made its debut. FarmVille along with different other games which include CityVille offered a different kind of gaming experience and it boosted their social networking as well.
The farming-simulation online game and this had people returning to their online farms in order to regularly to plough, plant, harvest, as well as raise their livestock. The makers as well as Facebook ensured that all your farms all managed and up to date and your friends would still be needing your help with their curated lands.
Zynga announced the shutdown of FarmVille and said that in-app purchases will be available till November 17. After this date, the game’s payment system will be turned off. Hence, players should look to make the most out of the game in whatever time is left. Zynga has also said that they will introduce a number of fun in-game activities soon. Existing players will be able to play FarmVille till December 31, 2020.
Now, for people who still want to play FarmVille can do so with Farmville 2: Tropic Escape – a game which is available on Android and iOS. Zynga has also said that they will be launching FarmVille 3 on mobile sometime in the near future.
