After Redmi K20, Redmi phone with 64-megapixel camera in the pipeline

There is no official announcement or information from Redmi on this report yet.

The smartphone market is awaiting the launch of Redmi K20 series (Inbound link from the previous post from the website) in India and as per Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Jain, the Redmi K20 series will be rolled out in India in a few weeks. Tentatively, both phones will hit the Indian market around mid-July.

However, even as we await the official announcement of the launch, as per the latest report, Redmi is now working on a 64MP camera phone.

There is information on Chinese microblogging site Weibo which suggests that Samsung recently launched a 64-megapixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor and immediately after this launch, there were also reports which claimed that the Samsung Galaxy A70s will also be using the same sensor. In this very report, it was also mentioned that Redmi is working on a 64MP camera smartphone.

As per Leakster Ice Universe, Redmi will have the Samsung 64-megapixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor. However, there is no official announcement or information from Redmi on this report yet.

Also, the report goes on to claim that the Samsung Galaxy A70s will be the first globally launched phone which will have a 64-megapixel camera sensor. Also, the Redmi phone will be the first one in China with such a powerful camera. It is not yet clear as to whether the Redmi phone will pack the 64MP camera in the K series or this series could be an entirely new offering.

Samsung Galaxy A70s, meanwhile, will be launched later this year and like the different Samsung phones, it will also come to the Indian markets. However, if Redmi does go ahead and produce the 64MP camera phone, it is not yet clear whether this will hit the Indian markets immediately after the launch.

However, Xiaomi has a huge presence in India and hence, even after any delay, the phone should be rolled out in the Indian market.
