Jio will offer a connected smart home ecosystem which will include three services simultaneously – a broadband connection, TV connection and landline
Ever since Jio GigaFiber was unveiled in beta testing last year, it has generated a lot of buzz. It was very similar to what was done to the telecom division; Jio opened up GigaFiber to the public under the testing phase. For people who were interested, they could avail free broadband Internet connectivity by paying a deposit amount of Rs 4,500.
Now, over the past few months, there have been a number of leaks from the industry laced with plenty of information which will help you make up your mind before Jio unveils the GigaFiber in the upcoming months.
For starters, it is becoming very clear that GigaFiber is more than just a broadband service. Jio will also offer a connected smart home ecosystem which will offer three services simultaneously – a broadband connection, TV connection and landline.
It will come out with the latest technology and unlike most broadband services, GigaFiber will rely on fibre optics network. Now, this will ensure faster network speeds and will also have a negligible loss in signal. Departing from the norm, GigaFiber will be an all-optical cable affair – and there will be no old-fashioned cables involved.
Also, this service will ensure 100Mbps speeds on an average. Under the preview offer, the users were able to enjoy 100Mbps speeds. Netflix in its Network ISP Speed Index has always picked GigaFiber as the operator which had the highest streaming speeds.
This GigaFiber will also combine a TV and landline connection. As per rumours, the Jio Home TV connection will solely be dependent on the Internet to stream TV channels. Hence, subscribers can avail HD channels with higher resolution. Also, there are reports which suggest that at Rs 600 per month, subscribers can avail 600 TV channels. Not only this, but the landline connection will also enable free voice calls.
