‘You’re going to flip’
Remember the good old days of foldable phones? – Well, yes, they may make a reappearance as Motorola has confirmed Razr’s comeback as a foldable phone. As per a new report, the Lenovo-owned company is sending out invites for an event in Los Angeles, California where the new Razr foldable phone could be launched.
Now, this particular handset will compete with Huawei Mate X and Samsung Galaxy Fold with its foldable design. Motorola VP confirmed the plans of launching a foldable phone, earlier this year, but did not explain the specifications and relation with the iconic Razr brand.
As per a report on CNet, the media invite could well be more than just the rumoured Motorola Razr 2019. The invite reads, “An original unlike any other.” It also reminds of the previous Razr models by reportedly mentioning, “You’re going to flip.”
It should be mentioned here that Motorola is notably one of the first few companies that have always been interested in bringing back foldable phones. “We started to work on foldables a long time ago,” VP of Global Product Dan Dery said to reporters. “And we have been doing a lot of iteration.”
Dery also said that Motorola would take a different route to what Samsung and Huawei had taken with their foldable phones in the past. They are planning to put out a single flexible display that folds twice and will also be launched with a dual-hinge design.
So what are the specifications?
The Motorola Razr 2019 is rumoured to be launched with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, and will also be coupled with 6GB of RAM as well as 128GB of onboard storage.
Also, the handset will also have a 6.2-inch (876×2142 pixels) folding display as well as a secondary display of 600×800 pixels resolution.
