The Redmi K20 Pro, which was launched weeks ago, finally got its first MIUI update. With this update, the phone now gets an important feature –face unlock. This phone, which has a pop-up selfie camera on the front, is also the first Redmi phone to have this feature.
When the model was launched, it did not have the face unlock support, but with this latest update, the company has introduced this vital feature.
The Redmi K20 Pro was launched in China with MIUI 10 based Android 9 Pie software. However, it has now received the MIUI 10.3.8.0 stable update which also brings few major improvements, bug fixes and most importantly, it now introduces the face unlock support. There was a surprise when the initial version of the phone did not have this feature as the face unlock feature is very important for smart phone users right now. Since this phone is only available in China, the update can only be incorporated in that country.
Both the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro will be launched in India in six weeks time as announced by Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Jain. However, Xiaomi has not yet officially confirmed the launch date of the Redmi K20 series India launch.
However, we do not expect any changes in the models which will be rolled out in India and it will be on the same lines as the models launched in China. Thus, Redmi K20 in India will also come out with Snapdragon 730 while the Redmi K20 Pro will come with Snapdragon 855 processor.
If few rumours and leaks are to be believed, the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro price will be quite high as compared to the launch price in China. In China, the Redmi K20 has been launched in two variants – the 6GB RAM+64GB storage version comes for 1999 Yuan (approximately Rs 20,000) while the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model is priced at 2099 Yuan which is around Rs 21,000.
