What will she sound like?
Apple iOS 13 is all set for its India release and the new operating system will be packed with India-centric desi features. Topping the list will be desi English accent for virtual assistant Siri which will now communicate with the Indian users in more natural and relatable voice – both male and female.
The users will also be able to access content which will be drawn from Indian languages in a very pragmatic and seamless conversational style. What adds a cherry to the cake is that Siri will also allow users to play their favourite Bollywood music, much in the same way it plays an English rap or rock number. Multi-lingual interactions, a feature that makes Indian vernacular so vibrant, will co-exist with English interaction in iOS 13.
Also, there will be content made available from different Indian languages and will be accessible by voice with simple English phrases like play, find, search, etc. It will also support ‘When’ and ‘Where’ queries for local events in India which include matches, award functions, different festivals, summits, examinations, among others.
Also, users will be able to keep a tab on the dates and venues for popular local events happening in the country. There will be support for these events in Apps and Safari will also come with support for flight bookings, restaurants, hotels, and other reservations. There will be an enhanced language setup for the same.
When any particular device is set up, users will have the option to choose their language, for keyboard and dictation, as well as, customization right from the beginning.
As far as the keyboard is concerned, it will now support all 22 Indian languages – with the addition of 15 new Indian languages; Assamese, Bodo, Dogri, Kashmiri (Devanagari, Arabic), Konkani (Devanagari), Manipuri (Bangla, Meetei Mayek), Maithili, Nepali, Sanskrit, Santali (Devanagari, Ol Chiki), and Sindhi (Devanagari, Arabic).
