Intel’s Core i3-10100 could well offer best gaming value CPU ever made – Here’s how

intel

Intel’s 10th-gen Comet Lake desktop CPUs are all set to make a splash, although, we might have to wait for it, but when it does make its presence felt, it could be an incredibly tempting budget gaming processor.

This Core i3-10100 could be placed at the bottom of Comet Lake’s CPU hierarchy, but if a leak from the SiSoft Sandra database (highlighted by the eagle-eyed TumApisak once again) is anything to go by, this chip is quite similar to the Core i7-6700K. This one is absolutely brilliant for gaming and is a delight for gamers all over.

PC GamesN, which spotted this tweet, says that the respective specs are quite similar – both the i3-10100 and i7-6700K are quad-core and eight-thread chips. The former has a base clock of 3.6GHz and boost to 4.3GHz. All these specifications are correct only if the leak will turn out to be true.

Now, this can be compared to a boost of 4.2GHz for the 6700K and hence, you will get more traction, you will be deriving more power with the Comet Lake i3 offering, although the older Skylake chip has a higher base clock (4GHz).

Intel needs to do something, and alongside the flagship 10-core Comet Lake offering at the high-end, perhaps its strategy is kind of a pincer movement with the Core i3-10100 providing a compelling assault at the other end – the budget sector of the desktop CPU market.

This new processor will surely excite people but then upgraders need to know that they will also need a new motherboard (with an LGA 1200 socket) for compatibility with the Comet Lake processors.

This promises to be a budget gaming CPU and for a relatively cheap price, Intel could well be disrupting the market with its affordable processor for those who want to build a cheap gaming PC.
